User lookup & Petpage Filter Changes

 TNT changed the filters again...  Sunnyneo has the following up:

A short while ago TNT activated a new coding filter for Userlookups and Petpages. This may cause your layouts to look a bit strange. So far we've found the following solutions:

1. Make sure your css style tags are <style> and </style>. Any variations on this, like <style /> and </style /> no longer work on most lookups.

2. You can no longer use shortened links to neopets pages such as
<a href="gamesroom.phtml">Games</a>
You must add a slash, like so:
<a href="/gamesroom.phtml">Games</a>

I personally have discovered that if you have a table inside a center tag it will no longer be centered.  My solution was to encase the table inside a div tag.

I'll update with more solutions when I find them!  If you find any of your own feel free to update this community with a post of your own!

Hey, so I have a question about my userlookup. I'm trying to put my navigation on there but it's not working like I'd like it to. It starts halfway down the page and I don't know how to move the links up/down/left/right.

I'd like to be able to move the links up to where the green bar is.

Also, my text box starts pretty far down as well. Any idea what the reason for this might be? Thanks in advance!

Fix for Changes Made on 5-20-10

TNT changed the way the header and advertisements work resulting in all sorts of mis-alignments on lookups and other customizable pages.

To fix this enter this in your style sheet:
#ban {display:none;} #main {margin-top:0px;margin-left:0px}

To keep your content centered remove "margin-left:0px".

To read more about the bug and the post I got the fix from you can visit this neopian_adults entry.

This fix doesn't work for galleries but the following solution has been found on Sunnyneo.com:

For gallery layouts:
#ban {display:none;}
#main {margin-top:0px;}
#pushdown_banner {display:none;}
#ad-slug-wrapper {display:none;}
#ad-table {display:none;}

We found that occasionally in the gallery layouts the removal of the ad made the main background of the layout move to the left. Should this happen for you fixing the position of the background will sort it out. To do this make sure your code for your background has the background attachment fixed. It should look something like this:

body{background:url('YOUR IMAGE URL HERE');background-attachment:fixed;}

Sidebar work around for Shops!

I went to go update my shop only to find that I couldn't remove the sidebar b/c visibility is blocked. With a little research I discovered the following petpage has a slightly messy but effective work around for it. So here you go!

Filters 10-5-09

Anyone have a fix for the most recent filter changes? Specifically for position:absolute; ?

EDIT 10-20-09:
I personally switched everything I could to inline styles... And for the rest used margin-left and margin-top instead of position and left and top. But I did this in a guild and I'm not sure how it works in a UL.

However, I saw someone link to this page:
- http://www.neopets.com/~Kaikuto#lookupf
- http://www.neopets.com/~erugi
They're suggesting you put your entire style sheet at the very end of your html and then just put a space before and after the slash on your closing style tag (ie [ / style]). And that you have absolutely nothing else after it. This is also what Sunnyneo is doing with their code at this time.

Help with Transparent Images on Guild Pages in IE

The other day when TNT changed the filters and after the work around became available I began experiencing difficulties with hiding the neopets header in IE only.  I can see what my problem is but I don't know why it's happening.

It's only happening in IE and only on guild pages.  (I'm using the same code on a user lookup and not getting the same results.)

SOLVED!  The problem wasn't with the header in particular.  I needed to specify a height and width for the section main.
Code: #main{height:0px; width:0px;}
The other page that I used the same technique for I had already specified a height and width so there was no issue on that page but there was on my guild page.  I have to say that IE has a nice developer tool.  (Not that I prefer IE, it just has redeemed itself to me a little.)

Welcome to [info]neopets_code!

Hi, I'm Amy the community's moderator/creator.  I am no expert in CSS or HTML but thoroughly enjoy coding pages on neopets.com!  Let me tell you a little about myself and why I created this community.

I started learning html when I got my first livejournal account (in 2001) and have been addicted ever since.  I have been creating petpages, user lookups, shop layouts, and pet lookups on neopets for a little over a year.  Recently, I got a council position in a guild maintaining graphics and am thrilled with the responsibility!  I have taken a college class on web development so I can't take credit for learning everything myself.  Plus I have a wonderful web developer/programmer husband who helps me figure things out when I go in over my head.

I created this community because there seemed to be a need for a place where neopians who are frustrated with coding can find assistance.  Having been one of those frustrated neopian coders I searched high and low, found only neopets related communities or coding related communities, and decided to create a neopets coding community myself.

Obviously, this community was just created and doesn't have very many any members.  Until we have a suitable number of members I will do my best to help you solve your neopets coding problems myself.  Be sure to check out the references listed on our profile if you need to look something up!

I wish you luck in your neopets page coding!
